Nick was born in January 28th, 1980 in Jamestown, NY at the WCA Hospital, where also Lucille Ball was born.
His parents decided to manage a nightclub because they wanted to see how he grows up.
The nightclub, which was located in Westfield, NY, was named “Yankee Rebell”.
It was called like that because Bob’s mother was a Yankee and his father was a “rebel of Tennesee”.

Nick often, only dressed in diapers, was located on the dancefloor where he practiced his first dance steps. One night, during he was dancing, he was allowed to go behind the mixing desk. His dad put him on the headphones and Nick could hear the next song. He snuggled the headphones to his ear and smiled.

When Nick was able to run he detected Pacman. He was happy and the visitors of the club always put another coin into the slot machine. Jane was desperated because she wasn’t able to find Nick, she already thought he was kidnapped but she located Bob and little Nick in front of the slot machine.

Florida - first try

When Nick was two years old his parents decided to move to Florida. They would live in comfort. They take bag and baggage and their doberman Sabbath drove with the trailer towards Florida. They stopped over in Tampa and moved on to Orlando. Nick was gaming open-air and he also snoozed under the open sky guarded by Sabbath.
Janes did the laundry on a gas station. Meal was recieved by meal vouchers.
Jane was acting as a waitress and Bob got a job at an express company so they moved to Apopka, not far from Orlando.
They were able to pay the rent there but there was no money for electricity or furniture. Nick had to sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor, what was disliked by his parents. A mattress made it more pleasant.

Jane reckoned to be pregnant again and told this on a job interview. Sadly this was the reason why she missed the job. With a heavy heart they had to return to New York.

Back in New York

Back in NY Bob and Jane worked together in catering, but then they established a home for old people “The Pleasant View Retirement Home”. They lived together with the advisers but they were unhappy.
Everyone missed Florida and wanted to return.

Florida, second try: finally Florida

In FL they settled down in Tampa, where they start their second home for old people “The Garden Villa”.
Nick signed the Backstreet Boys contract at the age of 15 as they moved over again in Tampa.

The dream of being a celebrity

Nick’s desire for being famous took shape in Florida.
Together with his siblings he created his own plays and performed them.
When his parents bought their first video camera Nick was always on the focus.
First steps in the limelight were made on the stage of his elementary school.
He was starring at “Phantom of tue Opera” on Miles Elementary School. His teacher was thrilled and supported him from now on.

Jane told her son about her favorite song: “bridge over troubled water” of Simon and Garfunkel. Clandestine he studied the song. His grand entrance took place on a stump in the backyard. Jane was washing the dishes as she heard Nick was singing the song. She hasted outside and was chocked up about the serenade.
That was the moment Jane discovered Nick’s potential capacity and dealt with supporting her son.

The avenue to fame

The way Nick was going was long and difficult. Besides his parents he had a few persons who helped his dream came true.

At the age of nine he started to act. In addition to his dancing- singing- and acting lessons he went to auditions in and around Tampa. Thanks to Disneyworld there were often opportunities to perform. Among other things he sung the national anthem at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two years and performed in Florida State Lottery commercials and Money Store.
He was starring in a TV-production called “The Clubhouse Kids” that was very successful.

On the avenue to fame Nick and Jane got also to know the unkind side of showbusiness when they met other parents and kids. They mostly were nasty and jealous. That wasn’t easy to handle but they learned to be above that.

Also in school Nick had to realize he wasn’t favored on his schoolmates and the girls because of his special position (he was allowed to leave class earlier if there were appointments). But soon he received love-letters with painted hearts from girls.

One day he met two boys at an audition: Howard Dorough and Alexander McLean. They became friends and everytime if they met each other on auditions or castings they sang together.

In 1992 Nick won first price at New Original Amateur Hour. In the same year he applied for the Mickey Mouse Club and the Backstreet Boys. He received acceptance for both but he went for the Backstreet Boys. It was the better choice because the Mickey Mouse Club have had been closed one year later.

Nick, love, family and animals

The members of BSB always told to be single and waiting for the right woman during the first years. In 1998 it changed.

The relationship with his longtime girlfriend Amanda Williford became public - however it broke up in 2001.
He lived together with Mandy - how he called her - in Apollo Beach, FL.
According to media releases his family disagreed that he lived in Florida together with Mandy.
His family moved to California in 1999 where they lived on a ranch which Nick should have bought them.
Probably the best known relationship was with hotelinheritress Paris Hilton which was in public from end of 2003 until July 2004.
A tattoo on his wrist carried the name “Paris” and has been covered with “old habits die hard” after breakup.
Nick enjoyed singlehood after the breakup.

2003 Bob and Jane got a divorce. Nick stayed in touch rather with his father than his mother. The twins Aaron and Angel stayed at Bob and Leslie at Jane.

The Carterfamily always had any animals. First pet was doberman Sabbath who came along with Nick from childhood on. A very hard blow was the deah of westhighlandterrier Booboo - he tried to follow the Carter’s boat and jumped into the water but he drowned.
In 1998 Nick introduced his two pugs “Willy Wonka” (said Willy) and “Michael Jordan” (said Mickey). He had to yield them because of Aaron’s cats. As they were bigger and stronger they retured to Nick and got another playfellow named “Houston”.
In autumn 2000 Mickey will ran over by a car. His playfellow Houston was so unhappy about that he died in may 2001.
In 2006 Nick got another dog called “Layla” an Australian Cattle dog and in 2008 there is a new dog again: Australian Cattle dog named “Maxi”.

Other animals were cats, which Nick never could carry on his arm because of his cat allergy, birds, hamsters, iguanas and horses on the ranch in California. Nick loves dolphins, even sharks but nevertheless he’s scared by them.

Business

In 2002 Nick announced his first solorecord “Now or Never” and is touring in USA and Southamerica.
In the same year he was starring at the Tim Burton movie “The Hollow - some legends never die” as a Football player named Brody.

Allegedly Nick should have been mixed up with a brawl and because of that he got arrested. He’s insistent that he have no bearing on it and only got arrested because of his popularity. There are different versions WHY he got arrested.

Nick and his bandmates broke in on Alex, who talked about his alcoholic disease on Oprah Winfrey. On this evening they reviewed to record a new Album after four years of break.
In 2005 Nick was arrested because of drunk-driving. Thereupon he had to do community service and a forced detox.
Nick and his siblings shot the reality Show “House of Carters” in 2006. They lived together in a house in LA. It have been shot eight episodes.
2007 he shot the movie “Fast Glass”.
Nick helped his friend Brent and his band to produce an album. He in person workes on a new album, too.
He moved from Los Angeles, CA to Nashville, TN. Regrettably he had to yield his dog Layla therefore.
