Howard Dwaine Dorough was born in August 22nd, 1973 in Orlando, Florida, the youngest of five children.

Due to the fact that father Hoke have had 3 jobs at the same time, to keep the big family, he was at home rarely.
In the daytime he was a policeman, after finishing time he worked for a security agency in a bank. At weekends he trained police dogs.
Also Howie's Mom worked a lot - by the way she worked in the cafeteria of the civic school.

Because of Howies early independence and sense of responsibillity his parents could count on him a hundret per cent.
At the age of three he was singing "Baby Face" by Prince while he was strumming on his tiny guitar.
His mother discovered Howies talents first and supported him as best she could.

His sister Polly-Anna, who sang and danced in musicals in her spare time, supported him as well. She supplied him a part in the musical "The Wizzard of Oz".

At the age of eight Paula accommodated his son in the popular kiddy-show "Show Stoppers" where Howie took part in some plays.

For education his talent he got vocal and dance training at the age of 12. Furthermore he became a member of the civic church choir.

Howie attended Edgewater Highschool. He was valued as most talented entertainer at 17. Because of that he got a stipend for the "Valencia Community College" in Orlando.
He studied biennial musicology and communication science . He learned handling a cine camera, directing, everyting from broadcasting to talk show hosting.

In search of performance, commercial and musical advertisements he flicked through all newspapers in his spare time.

He always got high marks and was a model student despite of his tight schedule (school, gigs etc.)

You saw him playing basketball on the playground if there was no school, no gig or he didn't searched through the newspapers.
If you can't locate him there, you found him driving waterski or just reading. Howie loves to read books about extrasensory topics.

With one of his countless castings and interviews he met Alexander James McLean and Nick Carter. Together they reflected to form a band.
The three Boys met Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell shorty after announcing to a casting advertise of Lou Pearlman.

The Backstreet Boys, an american boygroup of JIVE Records, were founded in April 19th, 1993 in Orlando, FL.

In 1995 the Backstreet Boys celebrated their first success in Germany.
At that point it was impossible to imagine the stage without Howie.
He got countless number one hits, achieved several honors and released a few successful CDs together with the Backstreet Boys.

At that successful Backstreet Boys period he fell in love with Leigh Boniello, who was serving as webmaster to the group's official website.

In 1998 Howies beloved sister Caroline Dorough-Cochran passed away because of the autoimmune disease Lupus whereupon Howie established the Dorough-Lupus-Foundation together with his sister Polly-Anna. The foundation helps raise awareness about disease, financial support for those who cannot afford treatment, and money for research.

Howie married his long-time girlfriend Leigh Boniello in Orlando, FL in Dezember 8th, 2007.

As of late, Howie has also been working as a producer/mentor to singer/song-writer George Nozuka. On the Backstreet Boys Unbreakabke tour in 2008, he sang a new solo song entitled "She's like the Sun".

He also did a record with Filipina singer Sarah Geronimo.

In June 2008, Howie teamed up with "Rock Your Religion" to help conquer Lupus through sales of "The Howie Pendant by Rock Your Religion". Proceeds from the pendant sales will be donated to the Dorough Lupus Foundation.
